Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
- No sign-up. No email, phone number or password.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics. We never sell or share your data.
- Your answers, streak and settings stay on your phone.
- Which apps you lock stays on your phone. Apple doesn't even tell us.
- Your character's voice is made by a voice service, so their lines go there to be spoken.
- Delete everything any time in Settings › Delete my data.
This policy covers the Intervention app for iPhone and this website. “We” means the people who make Intervention.
What stays on your phone
Everything you tell Intervention during setup and after is saved on your device only: your first name, how many hours you spend on your phone, the apps you named, your goals, your character and its settings, your signed pledge, your streak, your breaks and your answers in Real talk. We don't keep a copy. Some of it goes out for your character's lines and calls, as described below.
Screen Time
Intervention locks apps with Apple's Screen Time framework. When you choose apps, Apple gives Intervention sealed tokens, not app names, so we can't see which apps or websites you picked. Those tokens never leave your phone. The one exception: when a block screen puts you through to a call, the name of the app you tried to open and today's minutes on your locked and watched apps go along with that call, so your character knows what caught you. We don't use Screen Time data for anything except locking what you asked us to lock and making those calls, and we never sell it or share it for anything else.
What leaves your phone, and why
Your character's voice
When your character says something, the text of that line goes to our server, which asks ElevenLabs to turn it into speech. A line can include your first name, your goals or the apps you named. The audio comes back to your phone and is saved there so the same line doesn't need to be sent again. Our server records that a line was made and how long it was, not the words.
Calls
When you take a call from your character, your voice is streamed to ElevenLabs so they can hear you and answer. Your voice is not recorded. To make the call personal, we send your first name, language, goals, the apps you named, your local time, how hard your character should go and whether they swear. We also send why the call started (and which app's block screen started it), today's minutes on your locked and watched apps, your hours-a-day guess, your streak and breaks, the line your character opened with, and your Real talk questions and answers. ElevenLabs keeps a text transcript of the call for 30 days, then deletes it.
Microphone and speech recognition
Intervention only uses the microphone while you're talking to your character, and only after you allow it. When it turns your speech into text, it uses Apple's speech recognition, which Apple may process under its own privacy policy. The text is saved on your phone, and your Real talk answers go along on calls (see Calls).
An anonymous account
So that only the app can use our server, your phone gets an anonymous account from Google Firebase the first time a character speaks. It's a random ID with no name, email or phone number attached. Our server keeps a counter for each ID in memory (today's date, how many voice characters and calls were used) to keep daily limits fair. It's never written to disk.
Subscriptions
Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details, name or Apple ID. The app asks Apple on your phone whether your subscription is active.
Notifications
Reminders and break alerts are scheduled on your phone. We don't run a push notification server.
Who helps us
- ElevenLabs makes the characters' voices and runs calls.
- Google Firebase provides the anonymous account.
- Railway hosts our server and this website.
- Apple handles payments, Screen Time and speech recognition.
They process data only to provide these services to us. We don't use any advertising or analytics companies, and Intervention doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
How long we keep it
- On your phone: until you use Delete my data or delete the app.
- Call transcripts at ElevenLabs: 30 days.
- Voice lines sent to ElevenLabs: processed under ElevenLabs' retention policy.
- Your anonymous account: until you use Delete my data. Its usage counter is only a date and two numbers, kept in memory until the next day or the next server restart.
Your choices
- Settings › Delete my data removes everything Intervention saved on your phone, deletes your anonymous account and takes off every lock.
- Settings › What your character remembers lets you forget any Real talk answer.
- Settings › Talk out loud turns the voice off, so no lines are sent to be spoken.
- You can turn off the microphone, notifications or Screen Time access in iOS Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you have the right to access, correct, delete or move your data, and to object to how it's used. Since almost everything stays on your phone, the controls above cover most of it. For anything else, email us and we'll answer within 30 days.
Children
Intervention isn't made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has used it, email us and we'll delete what we can.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
